"The Recruit: R U IN?" Was brought to me by my friend Euan MacDonald when he was at MetaverseVR. The project was already shot when I got my hands on it. MetaverseVR had captured the scenes with two 3ality stereoscopic rigs (4 red epics), as a spec piece for potential distribution. It eventually was packaged in the MILKvr store on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for use in the GearVR innovators edition.
In The Recruit experience you are in a virtual space, being recruited by a beautiful woman operative. As you are being interviewed, the world around you changes, and you are given the time to observe it all in 360 virtual reality.
When I received the frames, I immediately knew that the way that it was shot would not work. I decided to throw 3 of the 4 image sequences away for every shot, and just work on the project in 2D, and then convert it in a Lat-Long format using Legend3D's long standing proprietary stereoscopic conversion software.
To the left is an example of what we had to work with along with some final frames from each enviornment.
I believe the project came out pretty good in the end, given we completed all post production, including R&D in 5 weeks.
The final deliverable was 5k frames at 60fps, and total running time was close to 4 minutes.
